Time to Say Goodbye……?
November 28, 2008 by hailey
The blogging competition is over. It has taught me so much, from how to get your readers attention to how to create a hyperlink. It has also made me aware of some of the worlds issues like poverty.
I have fifteen blog posts, many of them for the competition. This competition has encouraged me to write comments to help others in their blogging. I’m sure I have written over sixty comments in just ten weeks. I have also had over 100 people come to my blog so far from countries like Portugal, England, Canada, and all over the United States.
During this competition I have come across some very in interesting posts. Some about foam blocks, others the Melbourne Cup, but I also enjoyed some great poetry. Reading these posts helped me realize what readers look for when visiting you blog. They look for something that anyone can relate to or make a connection to. Nobody wants to hear you go on and on about something that only you would know about. Your readers also like when you get right to the point. You should also use some kind of emotion when writing so you can connect with your readers. I feel that these are a very important lessons for future reference.
It is a good to keep in mind you are writing to a world audience, because everyone has access to your blog. It also means that you can be judged by everyone around the world in a good way or possibly in a bad way. some good ways to avoid such faults is to use spellcheck. Not everyone will be able to figure out that “hte” is “the” mispelled. Also read your work out loud. Your writing may sound correct to you, but not to others. Because I do these simple tricks i would give myself a score of four for this post acoording to this rubric.
Bye for now, unless we have another competition. That would be a great idea.

A great post to finish with Hailey. But be careful how you hyperlink as you have http:// twice on those links in your post.
Keep up your blogging and commenting – hopefully another competition will begin next year.
Definitely know the problem with misspelling and words not exactly saying what you think you wrote. Yesterday I managed to mix up my words changing Crappy Graphs to Crabby Graphs. Fortunately one of the best part of blogging is your readers will often help you out when you make these mistakes.
I’m also sad to seeing it ending. How do you think we could keep it going?
Hey Hailey,
I’m sad that the competition’s ending too. =’[ but it would be cool if we started another one.
By the way, I like your blog =]
